About The Tours

TheCityTour offers you a pleasant walk through a local neighborhood, stopping at four different lovely restaurants for an "insider's experience" and gourmet treats!

At each stop, you'll meet a key member of the staff, experience an entertaining presentation and then enjoy a sample of their signature cuisine.  Your walking guide will take you from venue to venue.  [ read more about the tours ] [ read the F.A.Q. ]

Washington D.C.'s Cuisine Scene

Though our beloved capital city often fails to get its due recognition in the culinary world, it has quietly heralded what might be the most revolutionary gourmet movement in this past decade. Celebrity chefs routinely choose this destination so that they may impress their culinary prowess upon the power corridors of DC.

Between lobbyists, politicians and diplomats, there is no dearth of patrons with distinctive tastes and exceedingly high expectations. Our journey through the chosen neighborhoods of Georgetown, Crystal City and Old Town Alexandria attempts to bring this plethora of gourmet tastes to our tour guests – and you are no less than royalty as far as we are concerned!

Featured Neighborhoods

DuPont Circle

  • Dupont Circle is D.C.’s trendiest neighborhood, owing to its collection of night clubs, bars, cafes, art galleries, and shops.
  • Did you know that Pierre Charles L’Enfant’s original plan for Washington, D.C. included a number of grand boulevards, radiating out and intersecting with one another in a way that would create public squares and green space of which DuPont is a prime example.
  • As a silent homage to one of our favorite films “The Exorcist”, we have requested our partner restaurants to refrain from offering pea soup samples but your heads might still spin from the amazing gourmet tastes you will enjoy.

Adams Morgan

  • Traditionally residential, Adams Morgan combines the names of two previously segregated elementary schools: John Quincy Adams Elementary School and Thomas P. Morgan Elementary School.
  • Did you know that Adams Morgan was the site of the first Toys ‘R’ Us, opened in 1948?
  • Prior to gentrification, the area served as a gateway for new immigrants, and this history is still reflected in the community - especially in the food scene that permeates this belooved neighborhood!

Penn Quarter

  • Penn Quarter is a revitalized historic neighborhood in downtown Washington, DC. The name “Penn Quarter” is relatively new and the area may also be called Old Downtown by some. Since the opening of the MCI Center in 1997, Penn Quarter has become an arts and entertainment district with new restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, art galleries, theaters and trendy stores.
  • Did you know that the DC Public Library at 9th and G Streets was designed by world-renowned architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe?  It is actually the only public library ever designed by the architect, the only building he designed in this city, and the last building he designed before his death in 1969.
  • Two dozen restaurants, both reputed national establishments and local independents, have opened in the Quarter since 2000, and there are several others in the blocks just west toward the White House
